5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome machine, November 22, 2010

I purchased this machine off of eBay and use it at home. It is certainly a bit of overkill for my grand total of two users...but I wanted a coffee machine with a fancy GUI and lots of buttons ;-) and could be plumbed directly to the water supply. Well, this machine is all that and more.

We have this machine in our office, a unit of a large entertainment corporation. It's a very convenient appliance that sees a lot of use every day. Our floor is about 30-40 people and this machine happily attends to all our caffeine needs.

It's very reliable and easy to use. In the year+ I've been here, it has only broken down once, requiring a service call from a repair technician. To use, select the brew strength and service option (over ice, big, small, etc) and the motorized door opens for you to insert the brew pack. For added safety, there's a sensor to detect the presence of a cup. If you remove the cup, dispensing stops until you move the cup back under the sensor. You can also get hot water by itself from the machine. The cup rests on a platform that catches and holds spilled liquid. Behind it is a waste collection drawer holds about 30 spent packs and emptying it takes literally 10 seconds. Slide out the cup platform, then slide out the drawer, dump, and put... Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars This Bunn may last my lifetime, August 10, 2009

This review is from: BUNN VPR Commercial 12-Cup Pour-Over Coffee Brewer, with 2 Warmers (Kitchen)
About 15 years ago, I purchased a Bunn home duty coffee maker and found it to be excellent. After about 5 years of nearly daily use, it started to get a little finicky so I took it apart in an attempt to clean the hot water chamber. Turned out the sealing parts are not really made to be taken apart after 5 years of use and then go back together.

In a quest for a new Bunn, I found that the VPR cost about double what the home version cost so.... 10 years later, the Bunn VPR is still going strong and has helped out at family events serving large groups of people (just what the machine is designed for!). Despite having water poured into the bottom heat plate (don't try to pour water in without a carafe in place), it still works perfectly!

A hint to those who make coffee only on the weekends: the design of the Bunn is that it is a small hot water tank and keeps a couple gallons of water hot and ready to go at all times. This will use some electricity and... Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars When you want the best, buy the commercial Bunn, December 21, 2010
This review is from: BUNN VPR Commercial 12-Cup Pour-Over Coffee Brewer, with 2 Warmers (Kitchen)
I have worked in the foodservice industry for years, and the Bunn has always been the standard by which commercial coffeemakers are judged. Years ago, I decided to buy the consumer version for my home, and although it served me well, it eventually wore out and I wanted something better and sprang for the VPR. One nice feature of the Bunn is that you can unscrew the sprayhead, leave the filter basket off and you can instantly have a couple of pots of very hot water available for recipes. I typically buy the gallon size Lipton tea bags, put one in a decanter, run a decanter of water through and let it steep for about 10-15 minutes and add enough water to make a gallon, people love my Iced tea.
If you do unscrew the sprayhead, set it in the screened inlet where you pour the water into the maker, so that you don't inadvertently start a pot of coffee without the sprayhead in place. I did get a steal of a deal on mine new on ebay for $100.00...

5.0 out of 5 stars Workhorse, February 10, 2009
This review is from: BUNN VPR Commercial 12-Cup Pour-Over Coffee Brewer, with 2 Warmers (Kitchen)
We purchased our Coffee Brewer to replace our older model of the same make for our VERY active Senior Center. With clubs, excerise classes, art, and card games, the coofee flows all day long! We have found this Coffee Brewer by BUNN, a workhorse that can put up with the demand 8hrs and day 5 days a week for years! Thanks BUNN for exceptional quality!!
